This bed extension allows me to turn enormous bowls. I don't plan on using the full 38" swing but it seems like I always have blocks larger than the standard 20" swing.

This is a great addition to give you additional 18" of swing for total of over 36" diameter!! That's crazy...I may or may not need that much capacity...but it's there. The ability to either mount it low or at same elevation of main bed is that you can also just use it to extend the bed another 18"...which makes some spindle work a bit more comfortable, along with having a place to slide the tailstock out of the way too.

I needed to turn a 22" piece for a commission. I am very happy at how stable the tool rest is when using the extension in the lower position. Also allows you to move the tail stock completely out of the way when used as a bed extension. Standing at the end of the bed when hollowing is much better on the back than bending over from the front. Only regret is not buying it 4 years ago
