Comments about PM2000 3 HP 10 in. Single Phase Left Tilt Table Saw with 50 in. Accu-Fence, Rout-R-Lift and Riving Knife:
I recently purchased the PM2000 table saw as an upgrade from an $800 table saw I bought 12 years ago and am very happy with the quality and bells and whistles. It's a beautiful machine...with a couple of exceptions. The built in caster system is difficult to use in that it takes quite a number of rotations of the hand wheel to raise/lower the cabinet. It is also very difficult to move the table saw once raised off the floor. I would prefer using locking wheels under the cabinet as well as the table as I used on my old saw. My biggest complaint is with the arbor lock. The first time I switch blades, I learned a hard lesson. The arbor lock is very difficult on my fingers. It must be held in place while removing the arbor nut. I ended up using a screw driver to hold it in place while attempting to remove the very tight arbor nut. The arbor lock bent and is no longer useable. Now I'm out an arbor lock and will use my old tried and true method of removing the arbor nut. I would give the saw a 5 star rating if I could have bought it without the casters and arbor lock. I love the dust collection system! I also love the power and low noise of the motor. The details that powermatic incorporates make using this saw a pleasure to use. Cutting any board, whether maple, ebony or zebra wood, is like cutting butter!

Q:Can the router lift be upgraded to the Mast-R-Lift II. The lift specified limits the routers that can be used.
Q:It appears that the riving knife that comes with the saw is standard kerf thickness and that a thin kerf riving knife can be ordered as an accessory. Is that correct?
A:The saw does come with a standard thickness Knife and you can order a low profile riving knife.
A:Correct, the table saw includes a standard riving knife. Other accessories can be purchased on line at www.powermatic.com.
