Details

The Powermatic 1791787 is a Low Profile Riving Knife for Powermatic 2000 Table Saw. The riving knife rises and lowers with the blade, thus maintaining very small clearance between itself and the blade. This helps prevent rotational kickback, by keeping the kerf from binding when it has cleared the blade. The low profile knife sits just below the top of the blade, and doesn't require removal when doing non-through cuts
Features:
  • Rises and lowers with the blade, thus maintaining close blade/knife distance
  • Helps prevent binding and kickback
  • Remains installed for non-through cuts
Includes:
  • Low Profile Riving Knife - 1791787

Very good for partial ripping where the full riving knife and blade guard cannot be used. I needed to grind off the highest 3/32 of an inch so it matched the height of my ripping blade. Not a big job to do but necessary to prevent needing to tip up a partial ripped board to ride over the riving knife.

For years I didn't use a riving knife on my table saw until I had a piece of lumber thrown back me. So, I put this low profile knife on and wow what a difference, I would never again use the saw without it. Really makes using the saw a lot more enjoyable now than it was before. Ill pay more attention to safety now than I did before as well .

This is in my saw all the time now. I only take it out to use my dado stack. The only drawback is the stock guard is not compatible with this knife.

Powermatic should have included this as standard equipment considering the price of the 2K Table Saw. Works well, and complements the larger riving knife guard combo.
