I have never owned a Band Saw of this quality. It has met or exceeded all of my expectations. IT is the perfect compliment to the table saw. I have never had a band saw that resaws so accurately.

Comments about Powermatic PWBS-14CS 14-in 1-Phase 1-1/2-Horsepower 115/230 Volt Band Saw:
I've had this saw over 1-1/2 years. I bought it primarily to resaw lumber. Mine came with the 6" riser. If you plan to use one i recommend you do so before buying a bunch of blades. After shopping around, with the features included with this saw, it was the cheapest on the market. The quick release tensioner works well however i did have to repair the threads on the adjustment knob recently. The maybe a result of adjusting with it in the tensioned position? The fence that came with the saw was not squarer. I called Powermatic and they quickly replaced it. With the 6" riser the light is not in the best spot, i will be looking to relocate mine. When I purchased the saw I planned to use it occasionally. However the saw works so well I use it all the time. I set the fence to match the drift of the blade and get impressive results. It works so well i rarely use my table saw anymore for ripping. It cuts veneer nicely and consistently at 1/32. Blade changes are easy and the carter guides are easy to set.

Comments about Powermatic PWBS-14CS 14-in 1-Phase 1-1/2-Horsepower 115/230 Volt Band Saw:
I've had a 14" Rockwell and a 14" Delta over the years, and the Powermatic is a big step up with a bigger motor, carter guides, blower, blade tension lever, and other well thought out amenities. My only frustration is with the fence and miter storage hooks that do not perform well. I also bought the mobile stand so that I can move the saw around in my smallish shop. If I had the space I would go with a 20" model.

Great for fine cuts, first time re-saw worked well, lining up motor was a challenge, needs two people. The light, and other extras are well worth the price for this band saw. Top quality.

Comments about Powermatic PWBS-14CS 14-in 1-Phase 1-1/2-Horsepower 115/230 Volt Band Saw:
I make a small boxes, artistic designs in wood, etc.. I needed a saw that just stayed truer than the one I had. This definatley fit the bill. I love it. The only con is the light. It's too big and is not positioned very well. Probably will end up taking it off.

Comments about Powermatic PWBS-14CS 14-in 1-Phase 1-1/2-Horsepower 115/230 Volt Band Saw:
The saw is great. The fence is lacking. The fence does not adjust easily for square to blade and other degrees of freedom. I could not get the fence correctly set up after much effort. I resolved to use a modified Kreg fence system.
I didn't bother with the stock blade. There are many superior blades available. You need a longer blade with the riser block anyhow.
All other aspects of the saw seem are really nice.

Comments about Powermatic PWBS-14CS 14-in 1-Phase 1-1/2-Horsepower 115/230 Volt Band Saw:
I read plenty of reviews about this saw and every other band saw on the market before I finally purchased. Many Powermatic reviews complained about the blade tracking after the riser block installation so I was hesitant to even install mine, but I did and everything lined up perfect the first time, and blade tracking, well, perfect, what else can I say? The extended height with the riser block installed makes for unlimited possibilities. The table set up was easy but time consuming since I did take my time to be sure everything is absolutely perfect, which demonstrates Powermatic's excellent engineering and close tolerances. I have other tools that were the "more affordable" brand and among other things, you can see the difference in engineering tolerances. Powermatic's motor is more efficient than most of the competition and runs smooth and quiet. Electrical is not a problem in my shop but It's nice run off of 110v rather than 220v when I can. Considering what comes with the saw as "standard equipment" which are "extra's" or "after market add-on's" for other manufacturer's, Powermatic definately sets the standard. The chip blower works great for me and I can't believe anyone would manufacture a band saw without a light! The FIVE year warranty is the best. The one and only draw back would be the tensioning of the belt which is a little bit of a challenge but not impossible. The blade tracking and the blade quides are all what one would expect from a high-end product like Powermatic. Some manufacturer's provide only one bearing for blade guides which is curious to me how well that would work with wider blades, but once again, standard equipment for Powermatic to provide guides the full width of the blade. Dust collection is better than other tools I have. Considering all the features that come standard and the tighter engineering tolerances Powermatic is hands down the only way to go. Now that I have tools from other manufacturer's, and now a Powermatic tool in my shop, rather than settle for the "affordable" tool in the future, I will save my money to purchase only Powermatic for any other significant tool needs. There really is no question that Powermatic is the "gold standard." I would highly recommend this bandsaw over the competition.
