The additional work area makes longer work pieces much easier to handle and with short or small pieces the operator does not need to endanger themselves trying to get around the machine to catch the piece before it falls off the conveyor.
I would recommend this as an important addition to this machine for functionality. However, I agree with some other comments that this should be standard equipment. It certainly makes the tool more capable of handling pieces so as to not end up picking them up off the floor.
I ordered the in feed/out feed support tables when I ordered the Jet 16-32 Plus sander. Truth is I had some real issues putting this together by myself. The instructions say it needs to be set slightly below the feed belt and I had real issues getting it the same height on both sides. Meaning that I could get one side of the in feed table at the right height but then when I tried to adjust the other side of the same table, the first side would shift. It took me almost an hour to get both sides set to the right height. Maybe this would have been easier if I had someone to help. Maybe not. Once the tables were set, the tables work as designed and I am most satisfied with the results.
Wide belt 16/32 open end Jet Sander was not properly adjusted. Very difficult to adjust.Flimsy in feed and out feed tables that are not flat. Can't understand why jet could not put in a stiffener to get flatness.
Ran a bunch of boards through to initially check it out and it worked very good. Then tried a breadboard for a Pennsylvania secretary and got a big depession that ruined it. Paper was good and tight and ran other boards through which worked okay but did not sand to same thickness on both sides.
Sander is way over priced and I would not recommend to anyone
